The Model for Human Society

Imam Wallace D. Muhammad

With the Name Allah (In the Name of God),
the Gracious, the Compassionate.
As-Salaam-Alaikum

(Continuation of the June 2, 1978 Khutbah)

All praise is due to Almighty God, the Guardian Evolver and Sustainer of all the worlds. The blessings and peace be upon Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah to us all.

O Allah, guide us, forgive us our faults, and grant us the blessing of faith. I bear witness there is no deity except Allah and I bear witness Muhammad is His Servant and His Messenger. Peace be upon him, his descendants, his companions, the righteous servants, all of them, and upon us in America and throughout the world:

I want to read in this Khutbah from the first verse, as revealed to Prophet Muhammad. Let us all say, Sallaa Allahu Alaihe wa Sallam — the peace and blessings be upon him.

But the statement or term or expression needs itself to be commented on because it is not an ordinary peace and blessings; it is the peace and blessings that Allah promises, and fulfilled in the life of Prophet Muhammad. Peace and blessings that come to the human being in the community of human beings, through a Prophet that earned the great blessings of Divine revelation — complete and perfect.

This Quran came to Prophet Muhammad; it is the Book explain-ingall the troubling mysteries away.

Because of this message, there came peace, security, blessings increasing and increasing, and the community was lifted up in the eyes of the world and still is lifted up in the eyes of the world, regardless of what anybody may say, it is the true Muslim that is still the highest in the world's eye in terms of devotion to God, in terms of truthfulness, in terms of sincere religion — the Muslim is still the highest.

Who takes time from his work to come to Jumah Prayer and worship God to remind people that there is a life, that if you lose it your physical life is no good? Who is it that breaks up the business, stops the government operations, tells the people to come out to Jumah, who?

Who is it that can't hold his servant back even though he wants to make the $10 up to pay his bills this week? He says, no, the brother is a Muslim. 1 know I have to pay these bills: if he stays here working during Jumah, I can make it. He can't hold that brother back from Jumah. His business has to wait. Allah comes first.

Who is it that makes everyday in the life of the human being a day of worship, five daily prayers, constant remembrance of God?

Who says, "No! not one day, every day is for Allah." It is the Muslim. No sabbath — every day is for worship.

Who makes every act an act of devotion to God — worship?

Business must be lawful to serve the good of society. It is an act of obedience to God.

Who has made the whole life a Godly life? No one but Allah, through His Prophet Muhammad.

I don't care what the world says, the truth speaks louder than anything they can say. The Muslim is the best. The Muslim is the top. The Muslim is the model for human society.

We don't lightly say these things. We honor your replies.

I know many Muslims fall short. They neglect their prayer. Many of them fail to keep up the life, but the life is still here.

The Quran hasn't changed. Prophet Muhammad's example is still the same and there are still Muslims who respect the Quran and Sunnah as revealed authority in our daily affairs.

You may find the people falling short, but you go to Mecca and ask them any of the questions that I just discussed and they'll give you the same answers.

Among Muslims you'll occasionally find weaknesses or shortcomings but they won't say "the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet is arbitrary."

They will say, "Yes, God made it so, and God forgive us for our negligence, God forgive us for our sins." They won't say, "God didn't make it so."

If you ask, "Brother, do you say five prayers?" Maybe he will say, "No, I don't keep up my prayers."

But, if you say, "Can we neglect the five prayers?" He'll say, "No, the Muslim is to pray five daily prayers. The Muslim is to worship his God daily — the Guardian Evolver, Cherisher, and Sustainer over all the worlds.

Allah is the perfect being. Allah is all righteous, truthful — no imperfections in Allah. Allah is Supreme and Perfect without any imperfections.

O Allah. Make us of those who purify themselves and of those who repent, and guide us in your path. Amen.

Peace be to you
Your brother in service to Allah. Wallace D. Muhammad
