Imam W. Deen Muhammad
QUESTION: What are some of the things that you would like to see the community (AMM) create and carry out in the 1980s?
WDM: I would like to see us establish a model community. I think that would do more for our spirit and sense of accomplishment.
It's not enough to free your mind and speak your conscience and clean your soul, you have to make progress in the real world.
We no longer feel ashamed of what we believe in and we're not afraid to express articulately what we believe in anywhere. But we have a need now to share physical advancement in our lives, material advancement in our lives but we don't want to be materialists.
We should never go out just for material accomplishments, What we should have is a desire to improve upon our community, the community life of the African-American people and the Muslims.
